Dog licensing

License your dog online

Pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes Sec. 22-338, as amended, the owner or keeper of a dog of the age of six months or older, except dogs kept under a kennel license as provided in Sec. 22-342, shall license their dog during the month of June.  All dog owners shall, on or before June 30th or when the dog reaches 6 months of age and annually thereafter, cause such dog to be licensed in the Town Clerk’s Office. 

When can I apply?
  • Licensing is done during the month of June
  • A $1.00 late penalty is added per month. See fee schedule.

What is required?
  • A current rabies certificate from your veterinarian is required when licensing.
  • Proof of spay/neuter (if applicable) from your veterinarian is also required.

How do I get a license?
  • Online (preferred). Fees apply.

    • Mail completed form with a self-addressed stamped envelope, or,
    • Bring completed form to the Town Clerk's Office

What are the rules for local kennel licenses?

Local kennel licenses are required for owners who breed more than five litters of dogs annually.  (Breeders of less than five litters a year may also apply if they wish, but it is not mandated.)  10 tag local kennel licenses cost $51 and 20 tag local kennel licenses cost $102.  These must be purchased either in-person or by mail.  For more information, please contact the Town Clerk's Office.
